Urban Promise

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

This morning as I looked at the calendar I realized several things.  First, summer camps will be finished in two weeks.  Second, not to be depressing but Christmas is only 4 ½ months away.  Third, and very important, our AfterSchool Programs will be starting on September 13th.

Planning and preparation for the AfterSchool Program is a joy. The blessing already begins as we anticipate that children will once again connect and grow this year through their experiences with us.  Activities including helping children with their homework, exploring new skills and talents through creative arts and participating in sports such as soccer or street hockey offer children opportunities to discover where they fit, how they fit, and even what the possibilities are for them for the future. And when they are ready, they are given opportunities to take on leadership roles and to influence their peers in a positive way.

I can hardly wait for the new stories about children winning in the UrbanPromise world so that one day they will be able to contribute to the community, the province, maybe even the country and the world as productive citizens.
And we will be cheering them into the future.

UrbanPromise is making a positive difference in the lives of children and youth in Metro Vancouver. This occurs through the positive relationships that are formed and the role modeling that is provided by our staff and volunteers.

We know how important it is for people to feel they are significant and that they have made a difference. Our team of staff and volunteers are dedicated to helping children & youth to realize their self-worth, to know that God loves them, to know that we love them, and to strive for and find success. At the end of the day, that feels pretty significant!
